Access & Choice is a nationwide initiative that aims to provide free mental health and addiction support in Aotearoa.
It has a particular focus on supporting people with mild to moderate needs.
To help reduce the health inequities that Pasifika people experience, there is dedicated funding for Pasifika Access & Choice workforce development. With the support of Health NZ, Le Va aims to:
- validate Pasifika solutions that meet the needs of Pasifika communities
- develop and deliver relevant trainings for Pasifika Access & Choice services
- support existing and emerging workforces
- support leadership and system change across the continuum of need.

Trauma-informed resources
Using a trauma-informed approach benefits everyone – people, whānau, communities, and the health workforce. It is crucial to understand that trauma can impact how people engage with and respond to support.
Four Aotearoa New Zealand workforce development centres play a crucial role in equipping kaimahi (health workers), leaders and services so that tāngata whai ora and whānau have positive experiences and outcomes when accessing all health services. All these centres provide resources for kaimahi to support a trauma-informed approach.
