Niu Wave: Our programme for youth
The Niu Wave programme aims to encourage and equip youth with the right tools and skills to nurture their wellbeing as they study, learn and grow. Led by our Youth team at Le Va, you will be connected, celebrated, and inspired throughout the programme, learning alongside other Pasifika youth across New Zealand whilst being mentored in topics of the Va, respectful relationships, mental health, and Pasifika cultural identity.
How does this work?
There are 240+ Pasifika youth enrolled in our Niu Wave programme and we are excited that it is the first of its kind. Students enrolled are Toloa scholarship recipients chosen by the Ministry of Pacific Peoples. Our vision is to support youth with wellbeing tools that will enhance your overall education experience with a focus on boosting Pasifika communities into STEAM education and careers.
Youth
Mentor
Village
Students will be placed into 10 wellbeing villages based on their location and matched with a Youth Mentor from Le Va who will support you throughout this programme from March to November.
This programme is free of charge and will be delivered both online and in person at various schools and venues. We will also use a private Instagram page for notices, tracking student engagement, and reposting resources that we have shared throughout the journey.
Every student will be given a programme booklet which provides information on the course outline, key dates, support services and information about your Youth Mentor.
